HOMECATH ANTIBACTERIAL

Antibacterial Hydrophilic Urinary Catheters

An antibacterial hydrophilic urinary catheter is a single-use, sterile catheter with a water sachet made of PVC or PVC Free (Polyvinyl Chloride) and coated with cross-linked PVP (Polyvinylpyrrolidone) and antibacterial agent chitosan.

The surface layer of catheters has a hydrophilic coating that binds water and the catheter has a very wet and slippery surface. The hydrophilic surface means that the catheter has low friction when inserted. Antibacterial agents are chemicals that inhibit or kill the growth of microorganisms.

The hydrophilic catheter surface is coated with chitosan, which gives antibacterial properties to the catheter surface. This prevents the formation of urinary tract infections caused by catheter usage.Internation standard colours, diameters of catheters and assortment; as per the gender and age, are as follows.

Do not use in individuals with known sensitivity to the antibacterial agent chitosan.
